We've all seen the weather warnings that are coming this weekend. If you don't want to risk leaving the house this then how about a binge on Netflix? In this week blog we've got a quick rundown of the 5 Netflix shows that you don't want to miss out on in 2018.
Black Mirror- It's arguably been one of the most talked about shows in late 2017/early 2018. Black Mirror returned to Netflix for a fourth series at the end of 2017 and it has a lot of people hooked. Black Mirror is a British science fiction anthology series created by Charlie Brooker. An anthology series is when a set of stories are presented with different characters in each episode. Each episode is different, but it follows a trend of examining modern day society with a particular look at the complications of new technologies. Black Mirror is not for the fainthearted but if you can handle the dark concepts, it is a must watch.
The Crown - Like Black Mirror, the latest series of 'The Crown' was released at the end of 2017. The Crown follows the romance and political rivalries of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and the events that helped to shape the second half of the 20th century. Claire Foy (Queen Elizabeth II) and Matt Smith (Prince Philip) portray the roles fantastically and offer a gripping drama that leaves you wanting to keep watching.
The End of the F***ing World - The End of the F***ing World is a British Black Comedy that offers a lot of food for thought. You follow the story of James (Alex Lawther) who is a dysfunctional 17-year-old who has convinced himself that he is a sociopath. He plans to kill someone and ends up targeting Hanna (Jessica Barden). You'll follow their story over 8, 30-minute episodes that can easily be knocked out over a weekend.
Stranger Things - If you haven't heard of this show, where have you been? Stranger Things follows a group of young teenagers from a small American town in the 1980's. By the end of viewing, you will feel part of their tight knit friendship group and this is done by taking you on an emotional rollercoaster. You'll laugh, hide behind a cushion and maybe even cry as you follow the adventures of this quiet American town dealing with some 'Stranger Things'.
BoJack Horseman - When it comes to animated shows for adults, your first thought will probably be Family Guy. BoJack Horseman follows the life of a washed up 'post fame' actor who is trying to get his acting career back on track (Did we mention that he's also a horse). This show mainly follows a lighthearted approach, but it does visit themes of alcohol abuse, anxiety and depression that you wouldn't usually associate with animated shows. This may not be everyone's cup of tea but there is definitely no other show like this.
