Fun Halloween Activities for the Family

Halloween is just around the corner (believe it or not) so it’s time to start making plans for your little terrors. Halloween actually falls after the October half term (in the Hillingdon Borough) but that doesn’t mean you can't spend the half term completing spookily fun activities! If you’re stuck for ideas, you’ll be able to find a helpful list of activities to complete below:

Apple Bobbing

This fun activity helps everyone to get active and more importantly eat one of their 5 a day, which is very important around this sugar filled holiday! This activity is very simple… all you need is a large tub filled with water and a good number of apples. All you need to do it take turns putting your head under the water to grab the apples. You may need a few towels for after the successful or unsuccessful bobs.

Scary Movie Party

You can host a scary movie party for children of all ages, you may want to change the movies on offer depending on the age groups that are viewing. There are loads of child friendly Halloween films such as:

  • Monster House
  • Goosebumps
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Coraline
  • Hotel Transylvania
  • Halloweentown
  • E.T
  • The Little Vampire
  • Hocus Pocus
  • Casper
  • Ghostbusters
  • Harry Potter

Pumpkin Carving

You can’t have a list of fun Halloween activities and not include pumpkin carving! You can pick pumpkins up anywhere these days from supermarkets and various shops but don’t forget that you can also pick them at pumpkin patches. Find the local ones here: CLICK HERE

Once you’ve chosen your pumpkins, it’s time to get creative. Whatever design you go for, make sure take your time and stay safe!

Time to get baking

There’s already plenty of tasty treats about at Halloween so why not add to them by warming up that oven and getting stuck in yourself. You can cater for your crowds with tastes but there’s plenty of spooky recipes to use whether it’s cakes, cookies, buns, biscuits or beyond! Here’s a helpful list of Halloween recipes from BBC Good Food: CLICK HERE

Trick or Treat

You can’t have Halloween without trick or treating. Depending on the age of the children, we would recommend accompanying them when visiting neighbouring houses. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to leave to house to take part in trick or treating. Why not decorate the house and hide sweets around the rooms! Remember to stock up extra sweets for those that might visit your house!
