Nine-year-old Lottie Baker had open heart surgery at Christmas but refused to let it hold her back

A nine-year-old from Ruislip Manor has recruited her friends as fundraisers to help people with heart conditions.

The Lady Bankes School pupil had an operation to repair a hole in her heart at Christmas, and within a week she was out of hospital and planning her British Heart Foundation Ramp up the Red event.

Lottie and her pals, all aged seven to nine years-old, has been selling cakes and tombola tickets outside her house in Dawlish Drive, Ruislip Manor.

The determined fundraiser even persuaded her headteacher to let her school, also in Dawlish Drive, have a red themed non-uniform day.

The school donated money raised during a Harvest Festival parade to the British Heart Foundation in October.
