The Help to Buy equity loan scheme has assisted 38,052 sales in 20 months from its introduction in April 2013 to November 2014, government statistics have revealed.
The majority of sales (83%) were to first-time buyers (31,640), while the average purchase price was £211,566.
The scheme has helped buyers nationwide, as the top six authorities in terms of completed sales have been Wiltshire (664), Leeds (628), Central Bedfordshire (581), Milton Keynes (516), Peterborough (512), and Birmingham (465).
