Hillingdon Council has helped 10 first time buyers take their first steps on the property ladder through an exciting new housing project.

The council, in partnership with Lawrence Rand, invited residents who have lived in the borough for 10 years or more, but did not own their own property to bid for the chance to buy a new build apartment at a competitive price. The scheme aimed to help residents who had at least £20,000 in savings but needed a boost to get on the property ladder in the current housing market. The winning applicants were drawn at an official opening event.

A brand new selection of one bedroom flats were available in the new development,Elizabeth Court, above South Ruislip Library. The flats offer fully fitted high specification kitchens with appliances, spacious living accommodation, balconies or terraces, and secure parking with prices starting from £160,000.

The Council is undertaking a number of similar projects with the next development being completed at Rosedale Court above the new Hayes End Library. This is part of the Council's on-going commitment to its residents to offer affordable housing to those finding it difficult to get started on the property ladder. These units will also be offered on the same basis and are also being marketed by Lawrence Rand estate agents. Prices start here from £148,000 with a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments on offer. These are expected to be completed by end of April 2013.

Speaking at the opening event, Leader of the Council, Cllr Ray Puddifoot said:

“We are proud to be able to give our residents a helping hand onto the property ladder. Not only will it give these first-time buyers the boost they need to own their first home, but it will also support the local housing market. We were pleased with the interest in this scheme and hope that our residents will continue to apply for the apartments that are still available at Rosedale Court."

Peter Lawrence, Director, Lawrence Rand estate agents, added:

“With recent studies showing more and more first time buyers are needing a helping hand to get on to the property ladder; we are pleased to have been able to assist so many people taking this all important step through the scheme. Buying your first home is a very exciting time and its fantastic how well development has been recieved. We look forward to the same level of success with Rosedale Court in Hayes.”

As part of the scheme a selection of one and two bedroom apartments are also available at a new development,Rosedale Court in Hayes.
