Remembrance Sunday falls on 11th November (this Sunday) and is a special day to honour and remember those who have helped to protect the freedom of our country.
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a two-minute silence is observed across the country marking the end of the First World War. It is not only for those who fell during the World Wars, but it is also a time to remember and honour over 12,000 British servicemen and women that have been killed or injured since 1945.
Leading up to Remembrance Day you will see a strong presence of poppies throughout the country. The poppy is a symbol of hope and remembrance and is worn by millions across the country. If you’ve been in and around Ruislip recently then you may have seen the beautiful poppy display on the high street. If you are yet to buy a poppy this year or you would like to donate further to the Royal British Legion Appeal, you can do so by following the link below: CLICK HERE
