Make moving day less stressful

Moving house is a massive part of your life and it can bring with it a range of emotions. In this week's blog we thought we would share some tips that can help you once you've set the moving date. Moving day is always going to be a stressful occasion but hopefully these tips can help you to keep that stress at a minimum and the excitement to the maximum.

Sort your possessions out early - Once you've sorted out your housing arrangements, start sorting out those possessions. When you've lived in a house for a long period of time you can collect a large quantity of possessions so it's important to get organised with them.

Redirect your post - It may seem simple but it's often forgotten about. All you need to do is fill out a form and hand it in to the post office with proof of identity. Change of address cards - Inform friends, family and acquaintances of your move

Round up your utility bills - Another organisational chore that needs dealt with that can often be forgotten about.

Insurance - When you move house you need to inform your insurance companies. If there is an incident at your new address you may not be covered unless your policy provider has been informed.

Familiarise yourself - Familiarise yourself with your new home and the new area. Find out where you're going to park, if all your possessions are going to fit in the house and where you can pick up essentials.

Register for local services - Research and register with local services before you move. Finding a doctor and a dentist prior to moving is important to do.

Start packing - If you've organised your possessions then don't wait to start packing. Possessions that you won't need in the near future can get packed up and sorted, ready for your moving date.
