Latest figures show that repossessions have dropped in nearly every region of the UK with falls in the past year ranging from 8 to 39 per cent.

Latest figures show that repossessions have dropped in nearly every region of the UK with falls in the past year ranging from 8 to 39 per cent.

But behind the good news there remains a large north-south divide with repossession volumes, even after the recent falls, far greater in northern England than in the south.

The Land Registry’s figures are based on data from the month of October 2013, contrasted with the same month a year earlier:
