Bomb squad evacuated the beauty spot and carried out a controlled explosion
Dog walkers and families were evacuated from Ruislip Lido when an unexploded World War Two bomb was found.
A man walked into Ruislip Police Station, in The Oaks, Ruislip at around 3pm claiming that he had been digging in the Lido and came across the unexploded bomb.
Police evacuated people within a 200 metre radius and an explosives officer carried out a controlled explosion of the bomb in a grassy area surrounding the reservoir.
Officers described the bomb as 12-inches long and rocket shaped. It was still partly underground when they arrived at the Lido.
Police called for help from London Fire Brigade and the Met's bomb disposal officer.
The Lido opened up to the public again at around 5pm the same day.
